Heart balloon at Grand Central removed during "general cleanup"
It’s official, the red heart-shaped balloon that was stuck on the ceiling of Grand Central Terminal's main concourse since February 2026 has been removed.
The MTA told Aw, Would You Look at the Time that the balloon was “removed as part of general cleanup on September 30.” The ceiling in the main concourse is now balloon-less and a little piece of New York City is gone.
The balloon was initially accidentally let go during Valentine's Day 2026, as previously reported by The New York Times.
There’s no information about the current whereabouts of the heart-shaped balloon but I did get a chance to interview her in August about her future plans.
