Felicity never had hot lunch

In this episode of School Lunch Program, Matt and I are joined by our friend Felicity to talk about the lunch that defined her childhood living in both England and Montreal.
Felicity grew up in both Montreal and England, but she did end up having the same lunch in both places because her dad always prepped a ham sandwich for Felicity to bring to school.
Felicity's Dad's Ham Sandwich
Ingredients
2 slices store-brand whole wheat bread
Hellmann's mayonnaise
Romaine lettuce: outer, darker leaves only (not the crunchy inner hearts)
Ham, not deli-sliced. Buy a whole piece and cut it yourself, thick and uneven
Instructions
Spread a generous butter-knife scoop of mayonnaise on each slice of bread.
Layer the dark, wilty outer romaine leaves on one side.
Cut the ham thick and uneven (don't try to make it pretty)
Place the ham on top of the lettuce.
Close the sandwich. Cut in half straight down the middle (not diagonally, "not the fun way").
Put it in a plastic bag. No lunchbox. No ice pack.
Let it sit in your backpack until lunch.
Serving suggestion: Pair with an apple and an Oasis juice box. Eat reluctantly. Throw out half when no one's looking.

Notes from Felicity:
"We were not poor. We were not poor, and yet in a lot of ways we had to like it."
No cheese. (Though if there had been, it would've been Kraft Singles.)
For the authentic experience, the sandwich must be warm and soggy by lunchtime.
